The full name is the Kingdom of Tonga. It is an island country comprised of 172 islands of different sizes. Located in the southwest of the Pacific and near the equator, it is 650 km west of Fiji and 1,770 km southwest of New Zealand, covering an area of about 699 km2 with a population of 100,673 (in 2001), resulting in a high population density. In 1845, the Kingdom of Tonga was formed by the union of multiple islands. It has carried out the constitutional monarchy since 1875 till now, became a British protectorate in 1900, and declared independence on June 4, 1970 to become the 188th member state of the UN. Tonga is the only sovereign monarchy among the island nations of the South Pacific Ocean. On July 29, 2008, King Tupou V indicated that he would devolve the power to the congress by giving up power and moving toward democracy.

Warm tips: In the case of using dual-currency cards, it is suggested that the cardholder actively require the cashier to select CUP network so as to ensure enjoying the benefits and preferences of CUP network. There is a certain consumption limit for the credit cards; therefore, for the large-amount consumption of luxuries and the like, it is suggested to use the CUP debit card. The debit card consumption is only limited by the account balance (except for the consumption limit set by individuals).

In the case of CUP card consumption at the merchant, the cardholder does not need to pay the commission charges.
If the CUP network is selected for consumption, 1% - 2% of currency conversion fees will be waived compared with other bankcard networks. The local monetary amount of consumption will be directly converted into RMB amount according to the market rate of exchange, and will be timely deducted by the issuers from the RMB account of the cardholder.
