Mauritius is an island located in the southwest of Indian Ocean. In addition to the island of Mauritius, the Republic includes the islands of Rodrigues, St. Brandon, the Agalega Islands, the Chagos Archipelago (now governed by Great Britain) and Tromelin Island (now governed by France). Mauritius has a tropical maritime climate with two seasons: summer and winter, hot and humid throughout the year. The sugar industry of Mauritius is the backbone of the economy. Since the 18th century, the sugarcane has been deemed as a main crop of Mauritius, where the planting area accounts for around 90% of the annual cultivated land. Green sugarcane lands are visible everywhere on the island of Mauritius.
Mauritius boasts of beautiful views. The charming landscape, stunning beach and bright sunshine attract numerous visitors around the world. Luxuriant flowers and vegetation and various chirping birds in the Pamplemousses Garden in the north of Mauritius make you feel as if placed in a fairyland.
